Teal Walls and a Thumbs-Up
Teal walls, a checkerboard floor, pin-up flash in every frame — and a big-bearded brother in a ball cap and apron who greeted us with a grin and a thumbs-up.
Early November, early in the day. The shop was all teal paint and checkerboard tile, every inch of wall covered in pin-ups, swallows and horseshoes.

He pointed us around the room like a tour guide — this flash, that frame, the story behind each one. Cap on, apron tied, sleeves of colour down both arms.

A moment to set up the station, gloves on, and the shop slipped into its working rhythm.

Arms folded, beard proud, a thumbs-up for the camera. Some portraits ask for patience. This one only needed us to say hello.
